How we can work with you

The first and quickly becoming the most popular is for clients to buy 'sight unseen'. This means you purchase through viewing media, we do all the research and work for you to your specifications:

We will re-visit the horse for you, have more video footage and pictures taken showing as best we can what you need to see to be confident that the horse on the tape is the right horse for you. We will organise the vetting for you. We are happy to forward specific requests from your vet to the veterinarian performing the examination. The results will then be forwarded to you and your vet for assessment. If you are happy to purchase then the payment is made to us and we will then be able to co-ordinate the transport process.

The alternative is for you and a family member, friend or trainer to travel here to Europe and spend a couple of days with us travelling and viewing horses:

We will collect you from the airport, normally Prague, Czech Republic. Then we will drive you to the various yards and help to translate instructions between you and the seller. We will also organise all the accommodation whilst we are on the road so you dont need to book anything but the flight over. If you have some spare time we recomend some sightseeing around Prague, Old Town.

Most of the horses for Hunter and Equitation classes will be prospects without direct ring experience as these disciplines are not catered for in Europe. Not to say the right horse can not be found but they may require a little extra training to get them riding the way you require.

As a stallion he was a licenced breeding stallion and was the most popular stud in the area through 2010. He also won the test of stallions in the Czech Republic in 2008 and in 2009 he was awarded second place in the Central European Cup of young horses. This type of sale requires trust on the behalf of the buyer as they will never physically see the horse/s in question until they arrive at their new home.These sales only work with in depth and honest communication between the agent and the client, something we pride ourselves in achieving at all times.WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM US?Video footage at your specification Photos at your specification Vet reports Digital x-rays In most cases detailed show records Us to ride and examine the horse on your behalf Us to assess truthfully and realistically the suitability of ride, ability, prospect and temperament for you or others Secure the best price from the seller Regular updates via phone and email Informative and honest communication Help with organising transportation for the horse To receive all documentation associated with the horse/s (on rare occasions the transporter will need to be chased up for these)
As an example an average trip of 3 days may cost:Fuel - 2 tanks equal to 120.00 Euros Hotel Room - based on 2 nights equal to 100.00 Euros 3 days service charge equal to 150.00 EurosTotal = 370.00 Euros Of course there is no obligation or expectation for you to make a purchase after viewing. Although we feel we are always able to put a very good selection together for you, given enough notice and viewing time, so it is usual that our clients are happy to make a purchase after seeing the selections we make.PICK UP AND DROP OFF AT THE AIRPORTWe will be there to meet you at the designated airport with pre organised transport and will take the necessary action to ensure that you arrive back at the airport at your requested departure time. (dependant on weather and traffic conditions)ACCOMMODATIONWe will organise accommodation for everyone on the trip. It is sensible to budget approximately 30-50 Euros per night per room. The rooms will be clean, comfortable and have en-suite facilities. Let us know how many people are coming and what sleeping arrangements are preferable. We suggest you do not bring children along as it is often a very intense and tiring experience. Schedules are tight and it is difficult to accommodate the needs of younger children. Trainers are also welcome and it is often a benefit to have a companion with you who knows your needs and capabilities. If you want to travel alone that is equally no problem. We are very honest and open about all the horses we show people and at no point want to sell the wrong horse/s to a client. We pride our selves in our strong success rate and do not wish to jeopardise our long term business plan. Feel free to contact one of our references for your peace of mind.Please note that we feel it is best that we make any accomodation bookings as we need to be flexible on route/destination. Mostly the accommodation will be sourced at venue.CAR HIRENormally we are able to transport you in our own car but if you are travelling with either a lot of excess baggage or more than 2 people then it might be best to book car hire to make your journey more comfortable.It is sensible to budget approximately 65-150 Euros for one days car hire depending on how you wish to travel! If you need to stay longer than one day then budget for 120-200 Euros for 2 days hire, again depending on your preference of vehicle. You can of course travel for longer but in our experience it is not often necessary as we work hard from the moment you commit to your intent to purchase on selecting only horses which will match your criteria (or as close to as possible) reducing the volume but maximising quality. Please DO NOT Book your own car hire, the driver (Petr) will need to do this for insurance purposes.Please note that we feel it is best that we make any car hire bookings. Petr will be the designated driver and the agents require matching driver/booker details for their insurance. Because of this payment for car hire to us will be required before arrival.VIDEO AND PICTURESWe will be there to take stills and video footage of the horse/s you see and try. These can be forwarded on to you separately via email at the end of the trip or formatted to disk and posted to you for a modest fee.

Family from NY purchased 'Cooler Than Me', Holsteiner Stallion born 2008, winner of 2010 Czech/Slovakian Grading as an investment. They keep him stabled for stud and continued training here in the Czech Republic with myself over seeing the horse's best interests. Huge congratulations to Eric and Danae Martin!!!News from 2010:Martin and Harris Best of the West in Young Horse SeriesCalgary, Alberta –The first western event of the 2010 Jump Canada Young Horse Series took place during the Bow Valley Classic II held May 19-23 at Anderson Ranch in Calgary, AB. The top-placed combination in the Six-Year-Old Division was E. Martin of Oakbank, MB, on Kumano. Owner Jan Ash-Gross imported the dark brown Oldenburg stallion by Kannan out of a Landjunge dam to Canada in January of 2009. Just seven months after arriving in Canada, Kumano competed in the 1.15m division at the Spruce Meadows summer tournaments, earning top three ribbons. Now competing at the 1.30m level, Kumano is proving his potential. “Eric was thrilled with Kumano’s performance,” said Ash-Gross. “He is responding so well to the Young Horse program. He is really on target for where we want him to be, even a bit ahead of schedule! We are hopeful that he is at least a 1.50m horse.” In addition to performing in the show jumping ring, Kumano is also a breeding stallion. “He has the talent and the temperament; unless you knew him, you would never know that he is a stallion,” said Ash-Gross of Kumano's laid-back attitude. “He is just a real pet. There aren't many Kannan babies in North America, they aren't easy to find. Plus, he loves showing, he puts on weight at the shows. You can just see that he loves to jump.”

Carado showed amazing free jumping ability and has just commenced his jumping under saddle, and is showing the same freakish ability. Carado has the most wonderful temperament and is a lovely mover, he is a pleasure to have around and is very trainable. We look forward to seeing his progeny in the future. All horses arriving in the USA are subjected upon arrival to a quarantine period, and must test negative to the following diseases, before they are eligible for entry into the USA; 1/ Dourine, 2/ Glanders, 3/ Equine Piroplasmosis ( equi and caballi ), 4/ Equine Infectious Anemia ( EIA). The samples must be tested at the USDA Lab in Ames, Iowa. Any horse testing positive after arrival to any one of these diseases will be REFUSED ENTRY into the USA. The owner, at his expense, will have to immediately make arrangements to export the horse back to the country of origin, or agree to have the USDA euthanize the animal.The normal quarantine period is between 24 and 72 hours, pending the result of the blood tests. However, the USDA charges a minimum of $1179.00 for a three day stay regardless of whether the horses stay one, two or three days. After the minimum three day stay, should horses be held in quarantine, the charge is $276.00 per day from days 4 through 7 and $235.00 per day from days 8 and over.In addition to the charge for board, there is an additional USDA User Fee for Blood tests that currently amounts to $85.00 per horse thereby making the complete quarantine charges for a minimum stay per horse $1231.00.THREE LEVELS OF USDA ENTRY QUARANTINE1.Three (3) days, for horses entering from any country not infected with either VEE (Venezuelan Equine Encephomyilitis) or AHS (African Horse Sickness)2.Seven (7) days, for horses entering from countries reporting VEE within last year. Cost of Quarantine $ $2250.00 plus blood tests.3.Sixty (60) days for horses entering from a region where African Horse Sickness has been reported during the last 12 months. Cost of Quarantine is $14,864.00 plus blood tests. Only available at New Yorks Newburgh Quarantine Facility. From certain countries an Import Permit is required prior to arrival of the animal. The permit is issued by USDA, upon written request.The USDA in Ames Iowa, does allow the ability to prescreen the blood of a projected imported horse, prior to arrival. To avail yourself of this service, a permit is issued, samples drawn according to instructions on the permit, and sent to USDA Lab in Ames, Iowa. This prescreen is a precaution, and the testing of the blood is charged, based on series of rates for USDA User Fees, applicable to the testing involved. Please be advised, however, that a negative blood test, prior to arrival, can not be considered as proof of negative on the arrival of the horse into the USA. The only test that will be considered for the importation of the horse is the one drawn at time of arrival of the animal upon entry. However the prescreening is highly recommended by Mersant as a useful tool prior to purchase and or shipping. Mersant strongly advises all clients to pretest their horses prior to shipment to the U.S.
